What They Say About ‘HOLD-UPS 1 1/2″ WIDE UNDERGARMENT HIDDEN PANT SUSPENDERS WITH 4 PLASTIC GRIPPER CLASPS’
I almost exclusively wear tactical BDU type pants that are ladened down with a heavy wallet chain, knife, wallet, badge case and pretty much just loads of crap. I ride a Harley and am constantly having to hike up my pants every time I get on it. I’m 5’8" and 220 (I was 265 4 mos ago). So needless to say my pants are tough to keep up.
These things are great and solve the problem completely. Two problems, though. First, I have to run the Velcro strap up so high to tighten these that I have to stick it on the back. Don’t know if the make a shorter version but that’s my size I guess. Second, it’s hard not to have some of the strap creep up my shoulder where is shows by my neck when I’m wearing a t-shirt (which is always unless I’m in court or at a business meeting. But all in all, these have solved a very annoying problem. Nuff said.
I liked these so much that I wore them out and am buying another set. The wearing out part is part of the reason I am not giving 5 stars. These are not particularly durable. Mine lasted about two years with fairly regular use until the stitching on at the cross in the back began to become undone. But for $20, I’m not complaining. They keep my pants up, will not be noticed even if you are only wearing a t-shirt over them, and the grips *never* failed me. I wear these mostly with jeans but have also used with docker-style pants. These a great for casual wear when you don’t have to tuck in your shirt.
My only complaint is that my shoulders get sore easier with these than with my formal button suspenders that I wear with my suits. I think it is the elastic, but probably also because jeans are heavier than dress pants. Any suspender can cause sore shoulders, but I seem to only notice it with elastic suspenders. But you wouldn’t be able to have the same under-garment comfort if you used clips to adjust. The velcro adjustment and elastic is what makes these so comfortable under the shirt.
These suspenders work really well and do not show through a summer t-shirt. Mine has a construction problem. Where the straps cross in the back they used single stitching with no back stitch so after only a week the thread is pulling out and is now half gone. We will repair this with hand stitching since we do not own a sewing machine ( my wife had sewing and ironing dumped on her so bad as a child that she now does neither, we use the cleaners for both, but I digress ). Anyway, the product works very well at holding up my trousers and are relatively comfortable and the clips are the best I have ever used..
Simply amazing. I am a big ol country boy 6ft tall 56" chest 46" waist. Being barrel chested I typically have trouble finding shirts, overalls, and especially suspenders that fit well. My recent suit purchase included a set of Hold-Up suspenders and I was very pleased how they fit. Usually I have to let suspenders out completely otherwise they’re too tight, dig into my shoulders or pull awkwardly on my neck/shoulders eventually causing pain. But not Hold-Up’s. When I’m working my day job I’m typically dressed business casual and wear polos or button up shirts that are meant to be worn un-tucked. For that I like to wear suspenders under my shirt vs. a belt which aggravates my back and sciatica.
The first thing I noticed once I put these on – was after a few short minutes I forgot I had them on! They really are extremely comfortable. For me it feels no different than having a cotton undershirt on. I was skeptical of the plastic clamps at first but wanted to give them a try for two reasons 1) easier on the skin and 2) easier on the pants. I’ve worn them two full days thus far zero issues. I kept the adjustment right where they were from out of the package – which leaves about 3" of spare room to let them out. A couple of reviews mention these will stretch out and I can understand that considering how soft and comfortable they are but in my situation that won’t be a problem – there is lots of room to tighten them up.
Extremely pleased and would highly recommend.
I have had these suspenders for 6 months now so perhaps I am being overly critical as they worked just fine for the first few month but after a few months began to become very uncomforatble agains my bare skin as the inside of the suspender became quite rough, causing an itch an rash only after a short time wearing them and I do not have overly sensitive skin. So I’m back here looking for another set of suspenders, hopefully ones that will be comfortable for a bit longer.
I have been using as a major belt substitute for about a month. The thing to keep in mind is the delay in a speedy bathroom break because there are a few more steps involved in getting ready for that stall activity if you want to throw the straps off the shoulders instead of unclipping the snaps. This is the second type of suspender I have purchased with this buckle. The 1st one I threw in the trash because a pin came out of the hinge making it useless. If this one fails I will be returning though. Being heavy to the point of needing these is fairly new but if I should get back down to where a belt will work without my gut causing problems I may continue to use suspenders as an option with decorating colors to matching clothes because I have become comfortable using.
I bought 3 pair of these, they work very well, that is until the tiny metal pin that holds the gripper parts together falls out and disappears.
Any one else find that happening?
I give them 3 star because they are comfortable and fulfill my needs inspire of the design flaw
I found I could use a bit of wire for a makeshift pin so all was not lost, but really, should I have to?
I called the company once I had lost all four pins in one pair.
Asked them if they were aware of the problem, which I understood they were not (?)
Could this really be happening only to me?
Asked if I could purchase additional pins to replace them as I needed to, was told, no, they do not sell parts.
I see this as a significant flaw in the design and manufacturing, one that could easily be addressed been if it added to the cost and price.
The mfg offered to replace one of the three pair that had lost all four pins once I paid to return them.
As a suspender they are great, just know they have a major flaw that needs fixin’
I am glad I found these. On the positive side, they work great and the clips have never come loose like some others I tried in the past. I like the fact that they can be concealed since I were a lot of Hawaiian type non-tucked shirts. The negative side I only give them 4 stars because after owning them just over a month, the stitching for the clips for the back failed and I had to sew both sides back together by hand. I would buy them again though.
These work well. I didn’t give them 5 stars because the clasps can be uncomfortable to lean back on in a chair. I attach them as far as I can towards my sides, and that is more comfortable. The other problem is that the clasps will pull body hair. They can also come loose if you aren’t careful when you attach them. I really like the velcro adjustment for the length. I adjusted them once and they have stayed there since. And, they do a better job than a belt keeping your pants up if you’re, well, not exactly slender any more. 🙂 I also own suspenders that have the clips that attach to belt loops. I like those in some ways better than these, but they also have disadvantages. I guess I’d buy these, though, if I could only get one set.
I can’t use a belt due to lower abdomen issues, I found this product in Amazon and decided to try one. First time experience of an undergarment suspender. I was amazed at the comfort and plastic clips that I bought 5 more including trucker style. Thank you for a wonderful product. I can still put on my Island wear shirts with my pants secured.
