What They Say About ‘1 1/4 INCH (34 MM) NICKEL FREE CLAMP BELT BUCKLE’

I own several belts so this belt buckle didn’t get over used. I bought the buckle to replace another. The leather belt was still good so I thought I could get more life out of it if I bought just the buckle. After a few months, the finish started to discolor. That wasn’t so bad since I was only using this buckle for everyday type of clothing (i.e. Jeans etc.) The teeth grip that holds the buckle on to the belt didn’t quite bite into the leather as deeply as I had hoped it would. After awhile the buckle would slide away from the the end of the belt. The main problem I do have is that the Post fell completely off of the buckle. I’m going to try and squeeze the metal together where the post is attached so I can at least use it for awhile longer.
OK for the price, but even so, it shouldn’t fall apart.

Update- I mentioned earlier that the teeth clamp didn’t grip the leather as deep as I had hoped… Well after looking at the belt itself, I have determined that the belt was just a bit too thin. I added some thickness to it by using some card stock paper and now the teeth clamp bites into it quite well.

This Buckle is copper, plated with a nickle free stainless steel looking finish that definitely starts to wear off over time. I would have liked it to be solid stainless steel when I bought it, but at least it does not cause any sort of allergic reactions. And actually, I’ve come to really appreciate the more worn look with the copper showing through the plated steel, but I would guess that the majority of people wouldn’t appreciate that as much as I do, so I’m only giving it 4 stars…

This buckle let me make an old belt that was too long fit again: just cut the belt (carefully! better to cut too long and repeat with caution) and attach this buckle.

The buckle is slightly wider than the nominal 1.25″ of my belt so the fit was no problem, although of course it would not fit a 1.5″ belt. It is heavier and sturdier and looks even better than I expected. Given that I can always remove and reuse it in the future, it’s a great deal.

Highly recommended — for my part, I won’t be buying any more department store belts but will mix and match separate buckles and straps (e.g., 1 1/2″ (38 mm) Nickel Free Single Prong Square Belt Buckle plus BS-40 Vintage Style Full Grain Genuine 100% Leather Distressed Style Snap on Belt Strap 1 1/2″ Wide) for better quality, reusability, and lower cost. Cheers!

The prong broke, pretty quickly. I replaced it with coathanger wire I carefully bent into the same shape, and now it works.

My son has a nickel allergy and belt buckles are the worst as far as aggravating the rash. This belt buckle was a wonderful inexpensive solution. Nickel free belts (if they can be found) are usually for adults & pretty pricey. With this buckle, I can buy an inexpensive belt, cut off the buckle, put this one on, & it works like a charm.

So to sum it all up, it works & it’s affordable. I will be purchasing another soon.

It is much wider than an inch and 1/4. Clamps on fine, but much bigger than advertised

As advertised! The belt I was using was both stiff and thick, so it was a bit of a wrestle to get the teeth to dig in, but nothing bent or broke. It’s holding fast. I’d definitely buy it again. All the parts seem solid, which is more than I can say for the buckle it’s replacing.

I don’t have any allergies, so I can’t speak about that.

Was ecstatic to find an inexpensive way to keep my teenaged boy’s jeans up without causing him pain/rash. I was able to buy an inexpensive belt at Walmart and replace the belt buckle on it with this nickel free one. It was a tight fit, but it did work and I know it will hold for quite some time. Made my day!

So far I am having no problem with this clamp. I ordered previously nickle free leather belts and after wearing for months, I experienced that rash again. This time I am going to keep a close eye out when I wear this buckle. It was very easy to go and buy a belt that fits this buckle. I took the buckle with me to match the size. At this time, I am pleased with the purchase. I will see how this works out.

My daughter has been fighting a rash on her belly for months. FINALLY someone pointed out to me that since she has never been able to wear ‘cheap’ kid jewelry; she might have a metal allergy. Two weeks after wearing this buckle and no other the rash is gone. We have cut the buckles off of all her belts and add this one to which ever one she wants to wear. A LIFE SAVER!
